About Pet Portrait Artist Leanne Beasley

Having completed 'Fine Arts' in 1987 where I achieved awards for my results, I have continued to hone my drawing skills.  Pencils have proved to be my preferred medium as they allow me to accomplish detail that I am otherwise unable to achieve when working with other mediums.  I have artworks hanging in Australia, New Zealand, USA,  Canada and a number of my works have been acquired by a Danish collector and are exhibited in a private collection in Denmark.

Being an animal lover all of my life the majority of my artworks have been of animal subject matter including Australian, New Zealand and African wildlife, and domestic animals including horses, dogs, cats and birds.

I especially enjoy commissioned pet portraits as I love to see the amazement that comes over my clients' faces when they view the completed portrait of their companion.  The likeness and precision of the pencil gets them every time!

I work from photographs to obtain details for my portraits, so it is very important that I have a quality photograph from which to work.  The quality and likeness of a portrait is largely dependent on the quality and clarity of the photographs provided by my clients (please see my 'Photography Tips' web page for hints on how to obtain fantastic pet photographs).

Being a true animal lover I support a number of animal welfare organisations.  I support these noteworthy causes usually by means of donating artworks which are either raffled or auctioned - all proceeds go to the welfare organisations of course!  My favourite welfare organisation is Horse Rescue Australia.  Please visit their website and see what fantastic work they do - any donation or assistance that you can offer will be graciously accepted and put to excellent use!
